Evalutation - Conventions of real media products (Jingles)
I carried out a lot of research into the structure and conventions of radio jingles. For instance, I noted the many different kinds of jingles which exist, in order to portray the style of the radio station. I listened to a range of different jingles, extracted from different radio stations which were all geared towards a different target audience. I have learnt that jingles are played regularly and the way in which they are scripted reflects the genre and style of radio show. The types of slogans used and sound effects which are chosen are also a reflection in the stations target audience.
I went on the website below, in order to research the many different types of jingles which exist. For example: weather jingle, travel and traffic jingle, News jingle, station jingle, show jingle, sports jingle and specific competition jingles. All these jingles feature in national and local radio stations. I found this very beneficial in helping me decide on the kinds of jingles I would include in my radio show.

Below are my blog posts within my research and planning which highlights the information I found about jingles:
Introduction to jingles
Different types of jingles
This is my jingle which introduces the news bulletin on North Side fm. I have kept my jingle quite short and concise, so listeners remain engaged.
As my station is geared towards a local audience, I ensured that my station jingle has concluded the area that my radio show is broadcasted in; North London.
In my show jingle, I have included the time of day which the show is being broadcasted in; lunch time. I have also introduced the presenter; Emma Brown. This positions listeners with her, thus creating a more engaging show for them.
In my first news jingle I have included music in the background.

When editing the end part
of the show, where I included my show jingle, I had Alex's voice cut into the mix. I controlled the volume of where 'God's plan' by Drake goes up and down.
Below is the music which I used for my news jingle. The music I chose is suitable for introducing a news bulletin as it is fast and upbeat. Which will excite listeners about the news stories coming up.
