Similar radio websites

I am going to begin by looking at the two websites which I think are the most similar to mine. These stations are Heart fm and BBC radio 1

Heart fm website

By looking at Heart fm's website, through its bright colour scheme, I can see that it is aimed at a younger audience.

The website has stated that current tracks which are often played or being played are from artists such as Rita Ora, Swedish house Mafia, Shaggy and Clean Bandit. All these artists are modern day, and wouldn't usually appeal to the 'older generation' (35's and over), thus linking back to a younger target audience.

Both of Heart's presenters are young women. This is significant to a young audience of listeners, as their age groups may not be so far apart, so they will feel more engaged and interested. One of the presenters also mentions how the show will talk about competitions to be won and the 'hottest stars'. Both of these will be more appealing to a younger audience.

I found very similar conventions in BBC Radio 1's website as I did in Heart fm's. For instance, this website also mentioned contemporary artists/celebrities such as Niall Horan who is from One Direction. Just like Heart, this suggests a younger target audience as a story about Niall Horan will be particularly appeal to young/teenage girls.

As seen here, there are a variety of colours used on Radio 1's website. This shows that both genders are being targeted for this radio station, which is the same as mine.

Here is another reference to a range of contemporary artists, who have been featured in the latest tracks, directed towards a younger audience.

Both websites also use informal language, thus making them more accessible to a younger audience. Therefore, both Heart and Radio 1's websites have shown that their target audience is similar to the target audience which I want for my radio station.
