Similarities and differences between bulletins

After listening to both local news bulletins; BBC radio Birmingham and BBC radio Liverpool, along with contrasting the running order, facts and news values of each bulletin, I am now going to analyse each of the similarities and differences. Overall, both stations included different news stories. This was predictable as both stations broadcasted stories which happend within their area. However, both bulletins included national stories, such as the story about the Church service which was held in honour of the policeman who was killed by an Islamist gunman along with the Australian Gran Prix which Sebastian Vettel won. Both these stories also contained news values which would have made them appealing to the stations target audience. For instance, the F1 story contains elite people, such as Sebastian Vettel, which audiences will be engaged too. The story about the Islamist gunman contains conflict, which is very powerful and symbolic to audiences. ...

Representation in News presenters

Throughout this post I am going to explore the ways in which News presenters come across to the audience whilst presenting the radio show. For instance, I will be taking note of voices used, language, 'banter', tone of voice and interactions with other presenters. In order to do this, I will be looking at two completely opposite types of radio stations; Kiss and Magic. By doing this will help me to create the scripting for my own news bulletin. The first radio show I am going to be looking at is Kiss. There were two presenters on this show, a young male and female. They both spoke in an informal manner, with a slow relaxed voice as well as having 'banter' with each other. An example of this is when they both started singing the lyrics to a Rihanna song, whilst laughing about it. The second radio show news bulletin which I listened too was from Magic. News analysis The main element of my radio show is a news bulletin. Therefore, I am going to be analysing the different ways that news is presented. For instance the different formats news can be found in such as: radio news, newspapers, tv news, and online news. I will examine if there are similar conventions within these formats. I am going to start off by looking at national news stories online from BBC news and national newspapers websites, such as The Guardian. I am going to analyze a range of different stories in detail, to see if they contain news values and the 5 W's. Following this, I will also be doing the same thing for local news stories as well. Differences between national and local news stories I will be looking at both national and local news stories, and how they are presented. The difference between both of these is that local news focuses on on news stories within the area that you live in. Whereas national news focuses on news stories...
