Similarities and differences between bulletins
After listening to both local news bulletins; BBC radio Birmingham and BBC radio Liverpool, along with contrasting the running order, facts and news values of each bulletin, I am now going to analyse each of the similarities and differences.
Overall, both stations included different news stories. This was predictable as both stations broadcasted stories which happend within their area. However, both bulletins included national stories, such as the story about the Church service which was held in honour of the policeman who was killed by an Islamist gunman along with the Australian Gran Prix which Sebastian Vettel won.
Both these stories also contained news values which would have made them appealing to the stations target audience. For instance, the F1 story contains elite people, such as Sebastian Vettel, which audiences will be engaged too. The story about the Islamist gunman contains conflict, which is very powerful and symbolic to audiences.

In BBC radio Birmingham, 3/6 of the stories broadcasted were geographically close to listeners, in the Midlands. For example, the stories about the birmingham pub bombings, the 3/10 roads in the Midlands which are in need of repair and the service being held for Walter Tull. These stories were al chosen due to Familiarity.
In the BBC radio Liverpool, 2/5 stories were geographically close to listeners in Liverpool. For instance, the story about Prescott bridge being lit up in memory of Violet-Grace and the first anniversary of the explosion which devastated the area. These stories were chosen due to their Familiarity, along with Amplitude.
Overall, both local radio stations contain a mixture of both national and local news stories. This is something I am going to be taking into consideration when I am making my radio show.
