List of tools used in software
I have created a list of all the tools which I have used in the software, in order to create the various effects in my bulletin.
Music
Taken from Wentworth’s music library CD
Chorus effect (delay effect)
Sound was filtered and Equalized (EQ) at the
end, taking out parts of the sound apart from the middle frequencies
I did this because its what they do on normal
radio station jingles
Music library files means they are designed
to last a specific amount of time, which is why its good and works well for
radio jingles
Adobe audition enables the user to delete
mistakes, cut out breathing sounds.
This was important as I did my recordings in a classroom, which is not soundproof. Therefor people had to go up very close to the MIC. I can also choose what take to use if I want different approaches
Highlighting and deleting can take out
mistakes, put in gaps, rhythm in performance
Use tricks to make it sound more professional
More of a gap in between some of the
sentences I was saying, so it was more spread out
Effect is a chorus effect, put over the
jingle, a repeat after the original sound
There are certain voices where I wouldn’t
expect for them to sound scripted, such as members of the public
Vox pop 3 stuttered on one of his words; made
it sound more realistic
Makes it sound authentic
I felt that Libby’s voice was better suited
to the student vox pop, over being recorded for Susan Nelson, who is an older
local resident, as she has a younger sounding voice
I put a breath in the 2nd vox pop,
to make it sound more genuine
I got music from the college’s sound effects
library, and I got the music from the college’s music effects library
I altered the part of Jorja Smith’s song with
fades out
Edit the end
Break everything down and then do all voxpops
Do anything that needs sound
Break down into chunks of the story
When editing the end part
of the show, I want Alex’s voice cut into the mix
I have controlled the
volume of where the song goes up and down
Compression
I want everything consistently loud
Compression makes the volume more uniform
By making everything uniformly loud, it
sounds like everything has been recorded as loud as it can be
All radio will sound compressed
Cut it down to whatever it needs to be
Alex and background sounds to Jaime and
background sounds
Need to make it sound like recorded by a
correspondant
Because it’s a portable mic (correspondant)
Need to differentiate between c and studio
Convert overall sound to mono
Equalised the sound, by taking out some bass
and treble, so the quality matched the difference in quality you’d get between
a studio mic and correspondant mic.
I also did this for:
Story 1
Story 2 – Susan nelson
Story 3 - Vox pops
Peter Rhodes
News presenter:
I asked him to do it one way, but decided it
was too loud and shouty. Although this would have been appropriate for sports
reports, I feel as though a more relaxed manner is better suited for local
news.
