Rough Script for news story 2

Presenter

Local police have stated that they will be launching some kind of crime awareness drive in order to notify local residents of the sixth recorded robbery in Albert Terrace Camden Town, which have all happened since Christmas. Police have named this campaign ‘Is your property insecure?’ The main intention of this is to alert residents to the dangers of not protecting their houses to a high enough standard.  

A few witnesses from within the area have stated that they’ve spotted a teenage gang, who are the main suspects for these crimes. 

Voxpop (local resident): I no longer feel safe within my home and I want something to be done immediately to change this. 

Police within the borough of Camden are trying their hardest to ensure all residents do not feel like their own homes are potential crime spots. The council have been pushed by locals to install CCTV cameras along with a neighborhood watch team. Chief of police, Susan Nelson, spoke out earlier this morning, out lining her concerns about heightening security.


Susan Nelson (chief of police): ‘My real worry is that without residents increasing security on their streets and houses, you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position, by having accessible possessions to robbers’.  


 News Values: 
Familiarity: story has happend geographically close to us; Camden Town
Frequency: Break-ins are quite frequent events, to be taking place in peoples homes
Impact: Many people who live within the area may feel threatened, as their houses to be at risk for being burgled 
Predictability: Burglaries can be predicted as they aren't unexpected events
Continuity: The story states how the breakins have been going on since Christmas, making it an ongoing story
Negativity: This is a bad news story, as it states a criminal act
Scandal: The story is likely to provoke moral outrage from parts of the audience who are living within the area which is a prime target and feel as though local authorities aren't working on crime prevention strategies hard enough 

Target audience:
This news story will be appealing to my target audience as a high range of them could be living within or close to the area which is being stated as a 'crime spot'. Moreover, the story is of interest to both genders.

Dissimilar radio websites

After having looked at two radio websites which are similar to my radio station, I am now going to look at two radio websites which are dissimilar to my radio station. These two websites are going to be Magic and Talk Sport.  Magic radio website Magic's website has clearly been directed towards an older audience. Despite the colour scheme still being bright and appealing for younger people, and both genders, the presenter is older than the presenters on the other radio stations. This suggests that an older audience will tune into Magic as may feel as though what is being played is directed towards them more.  Unlike Radio 1 and Magic, these artists, such as Billy Jones, are more suited to an older audience as they are not as contemporary.  This image on their website references the 80's, which is a time period directed toward an older audience.  https://talksport.com/ Sports stations are usually targeted at male audiences; all...

Representation in News presenters

Throughout this post I am going to explore the ways in which News presenters come across to the audience whilst presenting the radio show. For instance, I will be taking note of voices used, language, 'banter', tone of voice and interactions with other presenters. In order to do this, I will be looking at two completely opposite types of radio stations; Kiss  and Magic. By doing this will help me to create the scripting for my own news bulletin.  The first radio show I am going to be looking at is Kiss. There were two presenters on this show, a young male and female. They both spoke in an informal manner, with a slow relaxed voice as well as having 'banter' with each other.
