Capital radio schedule
I have gone onto Capital's website and analysed their weekday and weekend radio schedule. I have chosen this station as they are targeted at a similar audience to mine, in regards to a young and both male and female audience.
Below is Capital's weekday schedule:
Below is Capital's weekday schedule:
At this time, Capital will mainly be playing upbeat party anthems. This is because this show is mainly for late night listeners, who are tuning in before they head out partying. There won't be as much conversation as there would be during a breakfast show, as most audiences who are listening at this time is purely for the music.
This show is aired during the middle of the night, thus meaning Capital will have its smallest amount of listeners. Just like the previous show, there won't be much conversation; mainly just music which is being played from capitals playlist.
Most of the audiences listening to this show will be tuning in after a night out or just before they head off to work. Capital will mainly be playing music from their playlist.
Capital's 4 hour breakfast show is one of the most popular times for listeners. During this show, there are two presenters, in order to keep it entertaining and engaging for audiences. There is usually quite informal and witty language throughout. People tend to listen to the breakfast show as they wake up and are on their way to school/work. There is often a lot of talk, mentions of competitions, a few adverts and capital ensures they play their top hits.
During this show, listeners are carrying out their days; i.e. in school or at work. Therefore, Capital tends to mainly play top hits from their playlist, a long with celebrity gossip. There is only one presenter, which infers how there isn't any conversation between other presenters.
The Bassman dj's for capital during the afternoon, and plays all of the top hits.
There is a big audience tuning into capital at this time, as people have finished school and are coming towards the end of work. The majority of listeners will be teenagers. Therefore Will Cozens plays the top tracks from the charts, along with celebrity gossip which would be very appealing to teens.
Most people will have finished their work by this time, along with getting ready to go out. Upbeat hits are played, in order to keep audiences engaged and excited. A range of different music genres are played; e.g party anthems and Rnb.
Here is Capital's weekend schedule:
This show is 8 hours straight of music from Capitals weekend playlist. There are no adverts, in order to keep listeners pumped up about the weekend, along with being engaged to the show. Moreover, this show continues playing very late, when most listeners will be asleep.
This show is hosted during early morning. Jay plays the top hits from the Capital playlist, along with news and juicy gossip.
This show gets played on saturday morning. The morning show continues later than it does during the weekday's as listeners will not be going to school or work.
This show, hosted by Will Cozens, plays upbeat top tracks from Capitals playlist, along with keeping listeners engaged by filling them in with celebrity gossip.
As it is the start to listeners saturday nights, this dj will play a massive variety of different kinds of music from Capitals playlist. Having different genres being played is significant as this will get listeners into 'partying mood', which is important as it is a saturday night.
After analysing Capitals schedule, this will help me create the schedule for my own radio show. I will take into considering the times of day, as this will determine what kinds of audiences will be tuning in and which kinds of music genres they'll want to be played.
